KnowHow2GO can help your students make college a reality
EducationQuest Foundation is proud to sponsor the national KnowHow2GO college-access campaign in Nebraska. This campaign was developed by the American Council on Education, Lumina Foundation for Education and the Ad Council to inform 8th-10th graders about four steps they need to take to make college a reality.
Step 1. Be a pain – in a good way. Find an adult to help you with college planning.
Step 2. Push yourself. Take rigorous coursework in high school and get involved in extracurricular activities.
Step 3. Find the right fit. Discover schools that match your career interests and skills.
Step 4. Put your hands on some cash. Apply for scholarships and financial aid.
KnowHow2GOmaterials coming to your school!
Around mid-September, we will deliver or ship the following KnowHow2GO items to all Nebraska middle and high schools for distribution to 8th-10th graders:
• Exploring College – an eight-page newsletter that explains the four KnowHow2GO steps to students and parents.
• Samples of a KnowHow2GO bookmark, paper airplane flyer and small brochure you can order for your students at no charge.
• An order form through which you can order additional items including posters and a banner to hang at your school and ads for your school publications – again at no charge.
We will also notify your principal and superintendent about the upcoming material distribution; however, you may want to forward this email to them to ensure they receive the information.
Your efforts to distribute these items to your students and to promote the campaign will help your students make college a reality. Here are other ways you can help with promotion:
• Place a link to www.KnowHow2GONebraska.org on your school website. You may use this graphic.
• Display the KnowHow2GONebraska web address on outdoor school signage and on the scoreboard during fall football games.
• Promote KnowHow2GO during parent meetings and parent/teacher conferences.
• Become a KnowHow2GONebraska partner. Click here for details.
If you have questions about KnowHow2GO or the upcoming material distribution, contact Tricia Dunn, EducationQuest Director of Media Relations at 800.303.3745, ext. 6666 or triciad@educationquest.org.
