OPERATION BUILDING CHANGE CULMINATES WITH VISIT FROM SOLDIER
Thayer Central Primary Students were an eager audience on Wednesday, April 9th. Captain Brent Hoops, stationed near Baqubah, Iraq, visited their school to share some of his Iraqi experiences with the children. This was especially meaningful because the students recently raised $375 through OPERATION: BUILDING CHANGE. The funds were used to purchase school supplies for 100 children. This Iraqi elementary school is located in Diyala Province, Iraq. Several large boxes containing crayons, pencils, paper, scissors, and various other supplies were sent to this needy school. Captain Hoops said he would personally deliver the school supplies to the students and teachers when he returns to Iraq in a few days. The children were excited to know that even though they are young; they can still make a difference in the lives of others.
