Titans Frosh Defeats Deshler

Two free throws by freshman Macaulay Mumm with 20 seconds remaining in the game sealed the victory for the Thayer Central Titans freshman boys basketball team as they defeated host Deshler by a score of 30-29 Monday night.

Mumm led the Titans as he scored 8 of his game high 12 points in the decisive third quarter as the Titans outscored the Dragons 13-4 to take control of the game. Mumm also added four steals and three rebounds. Trenton Tietjen added six points and three rebounded, while Brian Loontjer added five points and grabbed a game high seven boards.

Defensively, in addition to Mumm`s effort, Kalen Wenske, Gregory Dightman and Dietrich Brinegar teamed up to hold Deshler`s guards in check the entire game. Cody Mumm, Russ Heitmann and Brinegar added three reboundes each.

The young Titans will next see action on Thursday as they will travel to Fairbury to take on the Jeffs. The boys game will follow the girls game which will tip at 5:30 pm.
