Thayer Central Speech Team at Deshler

The Thayer Central Speech Team made their season debut at the ten-team Dragon Speech Invitational in Deshler on Saturday, January 16. Eight Titan speakers participated and earned six medals.

Leading the team with a two medal-performance was freshman Russell Heitmann, who earned a first place medal in Persuasive and a fifth place in Humorous Prose. Also bringing home Championship medals were Nathan Seaman in Entertainment and Courtney Yoachim in Poetry. Tarryn Tietjen earned a fifth place medal in informative and Clinton Rosencrans earned a sixth place medal in entertainment.

Many of the Titans were close to breaking finals on their performances. Titan performers receiving superior ratings and their events include:Morgan Fangmeier, Humorous Prose and the Oral Interpretation of Drama(OID) entry. Members included; Nathan Seaman, Joseph Dougherty, Clinton Rosencrans, Russell Heitmann and Sara Bulin. 

It was an  excellent experience for the speakers to compete with schools throughout the area. Many parents and supporters came to the all-day meet and cheered the Titans on. The team and the coaches, Jana Tietjen and Justin Bomar, would like to express their appreciation for the loyalty form their fans. The volunteer judge for the team was Linda Melton.
