Titans Get Back to Winning Ways

The Thayer Central Titans returned from conference play and got back on the winning track as they defeated the host Southern Raiders by a score of 53-51 on Friday. This victory came on the heels of a 52-41 set back to Wilber on Tuesday. With these two games, the Titans record stands at 9-8 heading into their final regular season game.
Against Wilber, the Titans fought back in the Third quarter after trailing by seven at half only to see Wilber pull away down the stretch. Leading the Titans were seniors Seth Wiedel, Will Goldhammer and Kory Klover. Wiedel led all scorers with 14 points and added four steals to go along with 5 assists. Goldhammer added 7 points, while Klover added 6. Junior guard Jeffrey Bantam added six points as well. Senior Sam Wiedel added 4 rebounds.
"We fought back after trailing, but couldn't break through" added Titans coach Mike Bantam. "They have a solid team and executed very well down the stretch".
On Friday, the Titans turned the tables and closed out the Raiders with big plays late in the second half. Baskets by seniors Seth Wiedel and Kory Klover as well as two free throws by senior Braden Burkey helped the Titans hold off a late Raider rally. A trio of seniors once again led the Titans. Seth Wiedel scored 17 points and dished out 5 assists. Will Goldhammer added 15 points and 3 assists and Kory Klover scored 10 points. Senior Sam Wiedel led the Titans with 11 rebounds.
"We executed down the stretch to close them out" added Bantam. "That place has always been a tough place for us to play and Friday was no different". "We'll get back to work and get prepared for Fillmore".
