Titan Freshman Take Three

The Thayer Central Titans freshman boys basketball team closed out their season in fine fashion by posting three straight wins. The Titans defeated once Sandy Creed, 35-34, Superior, 61-14, and Fillmore Central, 62-21. With these three victories , the Titans completed their season undefeated against freshman teams and 7-1 overall.
Against Sandy Creek, guard Gregory Dightman's conventional three point with 1.2 seconds remaining provided the winning margin as the Titans came from behind to defeat the Cougars. Dightman finished the game with 10 points. Classmates Kalen Wenske ad Macaulay Mumm added 11 and 7 points respectively. Wenske, Brian Loontjer, Cody Mumm and Dietrich Brinegar led the Titans rebounders.
Against Superior, the Titans turned an early 7-6 deficit into a 33-7 halftime lead and didn't look back. Three Titans hit double figures for the game led by Cody Mumm with 13 points. Brian Loontjer added 11 points and Macaulay Mumm hit for 10. Trenton Tietjen and Kalen Wenske each added 6 points. Russ Heitmann and Dietrich Brinegar each scored 4.
Against Fillmore Central on Monday night, the Titans built a 29-9 halftime lead and extended from there. Macaulay Mumm led the Titans with 15 points, while Brian Loontjer scored 12. Gregory Dightman scored 9 and Dietrich Brinegar and Kalen Wenske each added 8 points. Mumm, Wenske, Loontjer, Brinegar, Trenton Tietjen and Cody Mumm led the Titans rebounders.
