Titans Defeat Fillmore Central

The Thayer Central Titans boys varsity basketball team closed out their regular season by defeating the Fillmore Central Panthers on parent's night by a score of 61-40. The Titans, led by their five seniors, Kory Klover, Braden Burkey, Will Goldhammer, Seth Wiedel, and Sam Wiedel, scored the final 15 points of the contest after the Panthers had closed to within six points halfway through the fourth quarter. With the win, the Titans record stands at 10-8 heading into sub district play.
Leading the Titans on offense were seniors Will Goldhammer, Seth Wiedel, Sam Wiedel and Kory Klover. Goldhammer led all Titans with 17 points and added 6 rebounds. Seth added 11 points and dished out 9 assists, while Sam added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Senior Kory Klover added 8 points and 4 rebounds. Junior center Kesston Fink also scored 7 points. The Titans shot 50% from the field and 75% from the line for the game.
The Titans were led defensively by senior Braden Burkey who registered 5 steals to go along with 4 points and 3 assists. Seth Wiedel added 4 steals and junior Jeffrey Bantam added two steals. As a team, the Titans registered 14 steals for the game.
"It was a great way for our seniors to close out their home careers" added Titans head coach Mike Bantam. "We'll now get prepared for sub districts".
