In exam 4 we learned the order of rocks from youngest to oldest was Kaibab limestone Toroweap limestone Coconino sandstone hermit shale supai sandstone redwall limestone muav limestone bright angle shale Tapeat sandstone. Then we learned how to make sandstone Sandstone Recipe 6 rounded spoonfuls of sand 15 ml sodium silicate solution 1.5 plastic liter containers 1 plastic spoon Group label 1 paper towel 1 permanent marker We also did a stream table and we saw how there was places were the water stopped and we saw the sediments drop out and get carried away We also learned that Kaibab Limestone is found at 8000 ft in elevation. And Confluence is the joining of rivers Matrix is a material that holds materials together Principle of horizontal activity is that layers are deposited in a flat or level position Uniformitarian's- the way things happen today is the way it happened yesterday We also poured HCL on rocks to see if they had CACO3 We also learned that a Rock column is a sequence of rocks Formation is a rock layer composed of more than 1 kind of rock may be found in different places Plateau is a raised plane/ flat area Differential erosion is the erosion of different types of rocks Correlation means the relationship or a comparison to rocks Sedimentary rocks are limestone, sandstone, and shale In exam 6 we made our own time line and we did a time line of earth’s history and rocks We also learned Sedimentary rocks are the only rocks with fossils in them An example of an unconformity is temple butte limestone Limestone is from Marine environment Sandstone is from a beach, dune, or cross beading environment Shale came from a Floodplain or swamp We also put up a rope around the room to indicate the age of the earth Ways to form CACO3 is shells and animals exhaling
