Read Across America

By Betty Meyer

March 10, 2010

Betty Meyer, Thayer Central Media Specialist, and media aides Linda Heitmann and Rhonda Starbuck invited the students of the Thayer Central National Honor Society to be guest readers for the elementary classrooms to celebrate READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY on Wednesday, March 3nd.

The guest readers read a selection of stories to the RISING STARS pre-school and RISING STARS-Lollipop Lane pre-school.  They also read to Thayer Central  kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade students and handed out Read Across America stickers, and book marks.  They told the students about themselves and why reading was important in their lives.  The students presented the guest readers with certificates thanking them for reading, and the guest readers will receive pictures of themselves reading to the students.
