Titans 2010 State Runner-Up

The Thayer Central Boys Track team closed the 2010 track season in Omaha and came away with the State Runner-Up.  

The Titans began their quest Friday afternoon with 3200 meter Relay.  Will Goldhammer, Michael Feulner, Kalen Wenske, and Kesston Fink ran the relay in a time of 8:38.392 and came away in 13th place.  Seth Wiedel competed in the Triple jump.  Wiedel's leap of 45' 1 1/4" was good enough for 1st place.  Wiedel also ran the preliminaries in the 100 and 200.  He ran the 100 in 11.076 seconds which was good enough to qualify for finals on Saturday.  In the 200, Seth crossed the line in 22.096 seconds which also qualified him for the finals.

Saturday morning, kicked off with Kesston Fink running the 800.  Fink crossed the line in 2:08.395 which was good enough for 14th place.  The 400 meter relay team of Braden Burkey, Nick Burkhardt, Cody Pachta, and Will Goldhammer finished in 11th place with a time of 45.806 seconds.  Seth Wiedel competed in the Long Jump Saturday morning.  On his last leap of his high school career, Wiedel leaped 23' 8 1/2" good enough for 1st place.  The jump also broke Bill Williams 1970 State and State Meet Record.  The jump was also good enough to earn Wiedel the All Class Gold in the Long Jump.  Wiedel then turned his attention back to the track and competed in the 100 m dash finals.  He finished the race in 11.009 seconds which earned him the bronze medal.  In his last race of the day, Wiedel competed in the finals of the 200 m dash.  He crossed the tape in 22.182 seconds which earned him a silver medal.  

The 34 points scored by the Titans was one point better than 3rd place Elm Creek.
