Twenty four of Thayer Central's best math students took on the 4th annual Norris Middle School math challenge on Thursday, April 12. The Titans, represented by six students in each of 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades, faced stiff competition against students from Pound Middle School (Lincoln), Scott Middle School (Lincoln), Fairbury, and host Norris.
After individual, team and quiz bowl rounds the 5th grade group of Jarod Hergott, McKenzie Johnson and Keith Hergott earned a 2nd place finish in the team division. Also earning 3rd place recognition were 7th graders Brooklyn Hergott, Jessica Huhman, Hyeon Wang, Shivani Patel, Ashley Harms and Hank Harris for their creativity in the polygon construction contest.
Others who participated were 5th graders Holly Timmerman, Emily Welch, and Yong Wang. Sixth graders were Aubrey Fangmeier, Brendon Fangmeier, Skylar Roop, Jade Jarchow, Timmin Christian, and Shaun Edgecombe. Representing the junior high were Collin Fink, Julie Johnson, Simon Wiedel, Cheyanna Tietjen, Mariah Hintz and Colton Fangmeier.
