Thayer Central Elementary Welcomes Students Back
The Thayer Central Elementary welcomed back the largest number of students we have had in years to the 2018-19 school year with 292 students PreK – 6. Over 85% of the students and their families attended Sneak Peek Night on Tuesday, August 13th where they met their new teacher(s) and took a peek at what adventures await them.
Students came back to the 2018-19 school year with the theme of Dr. Seuss and “Oh, the Places We Will Go!” On the last day of the first week of school, students attended the back to school assembly where Mr. Wiedel introduced all new staff and new students to the school. Some 6th grade students assisted with reviewing the school behavior expectations of: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Healthy. Along with this, discussion was focused on doing things THE TITAN WAY!!
At the end of the assembly, The Cat in the Hat joined the group and assisted in a friendly class challenge of who could build the tallest Cat in the Hat - hat (using cups and paper). The 6th grade put up a valiant fight; however, the 4th grade class won the challenge.
Finally, the students enjoyed a healthy cool treat and took their annual beginning of the year classroom pictures. It looks to be a “Seuss-ccessful” year at Thayer Central Elementary.
