Thayer Central Attendance Support Program

Thayer Central Attendance Support Program

Thayer Central Community Schools will begin a new program to assist students and parents in addressing school attendance barriers.

The Attendance Support Program is based upon the premise that every child is entitled to, capable of, and responsible for the completion of his or her education. It focuses on early identification of students at risk for court action due to truancy issues.

The program provides prevention and intervention strategies that focus on skill building and parent involvement. It is designed to be a collaborative and friendly problem-solving program that is supported by positive incentives and appropriate sanctions.

The Attendance Support Program provides support to the student and family through regular communication, one-on-one meetings, education opportunities, and connection to support services as needed.

Once a student in any grade K – 12 misses more than 5 days in a quarter, a letter will be sent from the Attendance Support Program to the parent(s) explaining the program. Program staff will then monitor the student’s attendance. If attendance improves, no further action may be necessary. If attendance continues to be a concern, the student may be requested to enroll in the program.

To find out more information about the program, contact one of the school offices.
