Junior High Woodman Spech Contest

Junior High Woodmen Speech School Contest

Public speaking is an important skill that students will use throughout their lives.  At Thayer Central, we offer many public speaking opportunities, including the annual Junior High Woodmen Speech School Contest, which was held on Friday, March 15th.  The 2019 Woodmen topic is “Challenges Youth Face.” The students spoke about a variety of challenges, including unrealistic beauty expectations, the negative impact of social media, and school violence in the United States.

Christian Krupicka earned first place, Beth Poisel earned second place, and Madison Hammer earned third place in the school contest.  These students will move on to the district contest, which will be held at the Majestic Theater on Wednesday, April 24th.

Congrats to Christian, Beth, and Madison!  Special thanks to Titan Talkers Dakota Cherney, Sierra Hatcher, and Kelby Mumm, who served as judges for the contest.
