Mrs. Betty Meyer is the school library media specialist (school librarian) for all three of Thayer Central Community School’s libraries. She has been teaching at Thayer Central since 1991. Mrs. Meyer began her teaching career in 1975 and taught in Omaha, Lincoln and Bruning before teaching at Hebron, then Thayer Central. She received her bachelor’s degree from UNL with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Vocal Music K-12. She completed her master’s degree in music education from UNL, and then received her early childhood and library media specialist degrees from UNK.
Mrs. Meyer is married to Steve who is a farmer in the Hebron, Thayer County area. They have two children Spencer and Cassandra and son-in-law Cody. Mrs. Meyer has one grandchild.
Mrs. Meyer currently represents Nebraska school librarians for the American Association of School Librarians, and was just elected to be the district IX representative (Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming) for the American Association of School Librarians and the American Library Association.
Mrs. Meyer enjoys reading, traveling, golf and bowling. She and her husband Steve have gone to most of the Cornhuskers home football games since 1972
