English Teacher

Until I was in third grade, I wanted to be a ballerina. Then at the age of 10, I began planning for and teaching a Sunday school class of preschoolers, and I knew that teaching was my vocation. At Thayer Central, I teach classes in English, Speech, Drama, and Creative Writing. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Salina, Kansas, I obtained an English degree from Benedictine College where I was valedictorian of my class. I took my liberal arts education seriously, so I also have a minor in Sociology along with multiple hours in a variety of fields including Political Science, Theater, International Relations, and Philosophy. I received my teaching certification from Marymount College in Salina. I began my graduate studies at The University of Notre Dame and completed my Master's degree at Doane College. I have additional graduate hours from various Nebraska colleges and universities in areas ranging from English and Education to Geography and Storytelling. Prior to joining the faculty at Thayer Central in 2006, I was an educator for fourteen years at Fairbury Jr./Sr. High where I enjoyed teaching Honors/college credit English, Creative Writing, and English 8. I have also been an instructor at Sacred Heart High School and Marymount College in Salina. In my "spare" time, I enjoy activities with my family, reading, writing poetry, and obsessively pursuing my passion du jour. Travelling is also a love of mine. I have been to 48 states and several foreign countries; my hope is to continue adding destinations to my been there done that list. Motto number one: "Anything worth doing is worth doing well." Motto number two: "Being normal is way overrated."
