Farm Stand

Thayer Central Elementary students in grades K-6 wrapped up the fourth quarter with a fun and educational reading challenge called Farm Readers. Throughout the quarter, students earned “Farm Bucks” by reading books or logging pages. The more they read, the more Farm Bucks they earned!

On Monday, students had the opportunity to put their hard-earned Farm Bucks to use during a special visit to the Hintz Produce Farm Stand. There, local farmer Ben Hintz welcomed the students and shared insights into his farming business, including the steps involved in planting, growing, and harvesting produce.

The visit wasn't just informative—it was interactive and exciting. Students used their Farm Bucks to “shop” for a variety of goods at the farm stand, turning their reading accomplishments into real-world rewards. The farmer’s market was bustling with energy and excitement as students browsed the produce and enjoyed the fruits of their reading efforts.

A big thank-you goes out to Ben Hintz from Hintz Produce for generously hosting the students and providing a meaningful learning experience. His support helped bring reading to life in a fun and memorable way!
