First grade learned about the history of the Earth. We learned about the four layers of the Earth and created our own model. They enjoyed eating a yummy pudding snack representing the different layers. Learning about the three different types of rocks and becoming geologists was intriguing. First graders created their own fossils and were fascinated by the geyser representation. Students loved getting to create their own gemstone. To end our unit we had a fun learning celebration by transforming our classroom to the floor is lava day. The afternoon was spent going around to different stations and answering math problems involving volcanoes.
